Polishing Drews singletrack skills
I began correcting his body positioning on his bike and showed him why and the effect was immediate. We went over to the drop sections and began working on the mental skills that compliment the physical and he began landing perfectly and effortlessly. We moved onto the skills trail and began working on cornering and absorbing techniques and linking the sections together via the correct braking areas.
Flat, bermed, off camber and switchback turns were linked to upslopes, pump bumps, steps, rock gardens and drop offs. We worked our way along the trail in segments and always added the previous sections to the new. We had a coffee break midway to allow the learning time to settle and then we carried on. I worked hard on braking and line choice when linking drop offs into corners. Any errors were self diagnosed by Drew as he was now conscious of the correct technique and why it works so well. After 3 hrs or so , Drew had to return to work for the afternoon so our session ended.
