Down from the Highlands
Alex and Sean made the journey down and stayed locally to be fresh for their session. The skills check showed footwork, looking and body positioning faults and I adjusted their set ups to help this.
We began with the drop technique and they were shocked how easy it all felt, a far cry from before they arrived.
Onto the skills trail and we began working on linking the 14 sections contained within. Flat, bermed, off camber and switchback turns were linked to absorbing, steps, pumping, rocks and drop offs. After a break we resumed with riding the trail end to end and any errors were self diagnosed.
Onto the pump trail and I worked on pumping and absorbing undulations on a trail to maintain and gain speed and to carry that around 2 berms.
We worked on pedal assisted drops too and why the skills sets applied to that too before moving onto riding another trail. Steeps, pumping, corners, jumps and a near vertical drop off were all linked together and they were stunned at how easy the vertical drop off was once they applied their new skills.five hours after we began, they knew they were tiring mentally and physically and a couple more runs of the trail saw the session come to a close.
Awesome end to a weeks coaching.
High5!
