Mike, Craig and Duncan turned up as arranged and I began with the set up and skills check. I found they needed work on looking and body positioning and also their mental skills too. Duncan rode bmx as a child and I knew I could bring the kid back in them all.
Not only were the drops no problem but i was able to show them why their skills sets applied to styling in the air too.
Onto the skills trail and i broke the 14 sections down and worked on linking them together using line choice and braking areas. Flat, bermed, off camber and switchback turns were linked to pumping, jumps, rock gardens, steps and drops. They were flying along and knowing why too!
Onto riding steeper terrain and they were all stunned at how easy a near vertical drop off proved using their new skills and were keen to find out what else they applied too.
The 6ft tabletop was next and they all sailed into the air with whoops of joy as they did. They used their mental skills to ride the 6ft gap jump too and Duncan began styling it too.
For the final application of the skills, we moved to another trail to work on linking sections on a trail using pumping, jumping and manualing and linked the berm at the end into the line too.
The session ended as mental fatigue hit home and they were too tired to continue.
Great session!!!
