Simon, Rob and Paul's skills day

I coached Simon over four years ago and he returned today along with Paul and Rob so they could share the session and all enjoy their improvements together. The skills check showed me that they collectively needed work on footwork, looking and body position and it was good to see that Simon had retained lots of the first coaching session too.
We moved to the drop technique and using a 3ft drop I was able to install the mental skills as well as demonstrate why the physical skills applied. I even got them to begin styling it too. I moved across to the 6ft tabletop and gap jump and in a few steps they all cleared the tabletop and also the gap jump to, which was a sign of things to come
Onto cornering and carrying speed through a berm before adding two more later and a large faced jump, bike park wales stylee.
We took a break and resumed with linking drops into corners and the correct line choices and braking areas. Soon they were linking the 4ft drop into the turn like it wasn't there.
We then moved to the trail with the multiple berms and worked on pumping and jumping sections of a trail to gain speed and then linked  a7ft gap jump into the line and they once again all rode it a few times before we moved on again to a 9ft gap jump. The 9ft jump is sandwiched between two corners and the lads made short work of it. Paul used his mental skills wisely to not rush in and after the others had cleared it, he linked it in to the line from before so he could flow into it. They then played follow the leader and all rode the trail from top to bottom a few more times before tiredness began creeping in and an awesome session came to a close.
What a session, High5!
