Lee, Brendan, James, Stephen and Nathan made the trip up from Brighton for their session and I began with my skills check and Found they all had great footwork but needed work on looking and body positioning as well as their mental skills. We began with drops and they were amazed at how easy it all now felt and the old hashed up landings of old had disappeared . From there we moved to the top half of the skills trail and worked on linking sections on a trail fluidly and especially on corners. A break for coffee followed and the lads asked me to show them how to use the skills sets to ride over logs, simples!
Back to the skills trail and they were soon riding the whole trail end to end using line choice and control areas to link the 14 sections of the trail together. Rocks, pumping, steps, jumps and drops were linked to flat, bermed, off camber and switchback turns. We moved on to the 6ft tabletop and gap jump and all 5 of them sailed over the 6ft tabletop once i had worked on the mental skills and Lee, James and Stephen rode the gap jump side too!
I moved them onto another trail and we worked on absorbing, pumping and jumping sections of the trail and they really got to grips with it, even linking 2 berms together along the trail and carrying speed out of them. James rode the 7ft gap jump after the berms too which blew his mind at how easy it felt and why.
Over 5 hours since we began they all started to tire and our session came to a close to a tour of the herts skills area. Amazing session guys.
High5!
