Nik comes from the Isle of Wight

Nik's session took a while to come round but he made the journey down and on meeting we chatted about his experiences and aspirations for the session. The skills check revealed he needed body positioning and looking skills enhanced and I made a set up change to help.
We began with drops and the new mental and physical skills paid off straight away as he landed perfectly and never looked back, even styling it in the air. We quickly moved onto the skills trail and began working on cornering and linking sections on the trail together. Flat, bermed, off camber and switchback turns were linked to pre jumping, fly out jumps, steps, rocks and drops. Soon, Nik was riding the whole trail end to end and smiling all the way.
We moved from the trail to riding and dropping into steep stuff
We rode the 6ft tabletop and styled the gap jump too!
Nik wanted to ride gap drops so he linked the pump and jump trail to the herts woodwork too and even dropped a big wood to wwood gap drop way beyond anything he thought possible.

Finally, he linked in a 9ft gap jump to the line also and the smile was beaming over his face as he said the session exceeded his wildest expectations. Our session ended after nearly 5hrs to a pint in the local pub to celebrate an awesome session.
 Great riding Nik, high5!

Jason's one to one skills session

Jason made the trip down from Gloucester and We had a coffee before we began with the skills check. I found looking and body position needed work and I set to work with a set up change to assist. The drop technique was first up and it took Jason no time at all to use his mental and physical skills sets to ride all 3 drops.
I moved us onto the skills trail and we began linking the 14 sections contained within it together using the control zones that we identified. Flat, bermed, off camber and switchback turns were linked to drops, pre jumping, rock gardens, steps and fly out jumps.  By breaking the trail into segments it enabled Jason to focus on the segments in bite sized chunks and before long he was riding the whole trail end to end and loving it.
We moved onto the 6ft tabletop to work on applying the skills sets to that technique and soon he was flying over it with no worries at all and the bmx boy of his youth was back! Jason then used his mental skills to ride his 1st ever gap jump too and rode the 6ft gap jump side also.
Still buzzing we moved on to riding steep stuff and using jsi new body position and set up everything felt easier to him he said and confidence was booming. Our session ended on the pump and jump trail linking pumping, cornering and jumping until Jason called time on the session due to being knackered.
Awesome riding Jase

Keith makes it down from Manchester

Keith was given a voucher for his birthday and made his way down from Manchester and on arrival we had a coffee and chatted of his experiences and aspirations for the session. I began with the skills check and found both looking and body positioning needed work and I changed his set up to enhance the corrections I made.
We began with the drop technique and I worked on both the mental and physical skills required and keith soon began landing perfectly and knowing why.
We moved to the skills trail and began work on linking the sections contained in the trail together via the control zones. Flat, bermed, off camber and switchback turns were linked to pump bumps, rock gardens, fly out jumps, drops and steps. Over half way through the session and he was riding the entire trail end to end and loving the new found grip and confidence.
We moved onto riding steeps and using his new body position and set up Keith found enhanced control in descending and manged his speed easier too.
I moved onto the 6ft tabletop and I knew from our conversations earlier that he had a mental barrier with these and I worked on the technique and the application of his new skill set and after a time he sailed over it easily and never even felt like he'd left the ground. After a good few clears we moved onto our final trail, the pump and jump trail and worked on linking the pump technique to generate speed to be able to choose to jump sections. Our session came to a close soon after and we warmed up in the local pub with a welcome pint of Doombar.
Great session Keith.

Enhancing Mark's skill set

Our session began with my skills check and I identified that Mark needed looking and body positioning worked on and I made a small set up change that really made a difference to him. We began with the drop technique and it took no time at all for mark to ride all 3 drops easily using his mental and physical skills sets.
We moved to the skills trail and worked on linking the 14 sections contained within it together and worked on line choice and braking technique. Flat, bermed, off camber and switchback turns were linked to pre jumps, fly out jumps, rock gardens, steps and drops.
After a few complete runs of the trail it was time to move to riding steep drop offs and I worked again on Mark's body positioning and it stunned him how easy it all was.
We moved to the 6ft tabletop and gap jump and in a few small moves Mark was sailing over the tabletop and then used his mental skills to ride the gap jump a few times too.

I then moved onto the pump and jump trail to work on pumping, jumping and even show why the skill sets apply to manuals and soon he was riding the whole trail and even linked in the gap jump at the end of it too.
Our session came to a close as mentally and physically he was tiring and our session ended and off we went to celebrate an amazing session with a xmas pint.
