Building Keiths' skills

Keith contacted me for coaching and said he is having confidence issues. after the skills health check I could see what skills were missing and set about correcting this.
Keith took to pumping the trail easily and we moved onto un weighting the front wheel.
This led into the drop technique and soon Keiths confidence and commitment was soaring.
We worked on footwork and looking at what's next on the trail and applied it to cornering.
We even sorted out his big fear "air time on jumps".
We ended our session by knitting it all together on a very tight natural trail and keith was using his energy management sweetly.
An awesome day on every count!
Thank you Keith.

A day with Nirvana Cyles

After moving through the skills check and pumping, we worked on un-weighting then onto the drop technique. Alison overcame her confidence issues with help from me to really become automatic with the technique.
We then moved onto a trail and worked the looking and footwork on the top section .
Jonathon was really starting to fly after we worked on his speed management issue at the start.
Andy was flowing the trail and the drop was just another "section".
John was getting faster though feeling slower as he really got into his looking "next" down the trail.
White bike john was loving his new found trail energy managment skills.

Simon really went from fast to faster through out the session and capped it off on the final trail. We ended the day chatting about the progression of the entire group over a pint and chips in the pub.
Cheers guys!

Luke and the boys!

Luke and the boys contacted me for a private group day. After taking them through the skills check and then onto pumping and unwieighting the bike we moved onto the drop technique.
Here's Mark getting it right.
We then moved onto a trail and broke it down into 3 sections, the top being corners. John led the way with his looking and footwork.
Josh showed great commitment and confidence on the drop off.
Luke nailed the drop section 1st time and all showed how to use the trails energy for themselves.

Mark took a tumble and sat out for a while as the lads showed how to rail the trail from top to bottom.
All in all , the day flowed really well and the boys all left with a new skill set and renewed confidence in their own abilties.
Cheers boys!

Julia and Krystal begin progressing!

Julia and Krystal contacted me for a skills session after they had bought new bikes from Marshall's cycles and decided to ride to the new forest and back in june this year.
After going through the skills check and some braking and cornering techniques we moved onto contrlled braking on steep singletrack.
Krystal then applied the same skills to roll downs/drop offs.
oh, and cornering!
Julia showed great commitment and control on the descents.
After applying the skill set to all the techniques on the trails we moved onto climbing. I demonstrated the technique and we worked on gear selection and cadence as well.
Overall the day covered a wide spectrum of techniques using the mental and physical skill set. The girls left feeling confident that their trip will be alot more fun now on the off road sections.

Looking at Petes' progression.

I began the day as always, re affirming the missing skills I had seen in the pictures he had sent me before the day.
After moving through the pumping technique and how moving around the bottom bracket affects the weight of the bike. I showed how it relates to the drop technique and Pete took to the air.
One of the skills we had to work on was Pete's looking along the trail.
He started to really look into the next section not the section he is in!
We then moved onto a technical, tighter trail and applied the new skill set to all we found.
By the end of our session Pete was demonstrating good footwork and looking through the trail. He was using the energy in the trail very well indeed and used effective braking.
Awesome day at work.

Mike's day of confidence.

When Mike contacted me he explained that he is getting back to riding after breaking his back. He spoke of wanting to gain in confidence that he lost when he crashed.
After analysing his riding during my skills health check I saw he wasn't looking far along the trail but directly down through his wheel. I set to put that right.

Section after section Mike demonstrated the uptake of his new skill set and gained confidence throughout the day.
We worked on cornering.
The drop technique.
We worked on climbing too.
By the end of the day Mike was flowing down the trails with renewed confidence and control. I read about his crash last year when he posted from his hospital bed and I sent him healing vibes then, today it was a pleasure to watch him back where he belongs.

Chris Daly and friends.

After the skills health check, we went through pumping and un weighting the bike.I showed how this leads into the drop technique as Liz shows.
Chris needed to work on his looking what's next on the trail and got the hang of it fast!
Ben needed to work on his footwork and looking next and started to flow down the trail.
Ashley was fast and controlled in the corners too after a few tweaks .
Overall, the day was again a good one with all riders showing good uptake of the new skill set and confidence grew and grew. We ended the day chatting through the highlights over chips and a pint.
